Taken just as the girl on the left hurled some abuse at me for photographing them. Sorry, but if you are in a public place making a specatacle of yourself you've got to expect some attention. Isn't that what you wanted in the first place?

Saigon

A man inebriated and perhaps suffering concommitant psychosis with open bleeding sores on his legs lays on the pavement screaming at me. He is wrapped around by one of his sleeping sons. Another is in the background.
A paint can is open for money . This could easily be 1967.
It almost appears as if he holds a grenade in his left hand a remnant from the 60's and 70's.
Yes many in Vnam are progressing. Some have to try harder than others. Some are luckier.
SOME ARE NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

INDIA3835/ "the Oath"

I swear by Apollo, the healer, Asclepius, Hygieia, and Panacea, and I take to witness all the gods, all the goddesses, to keep according to my ability and my judgment, the following Oath and agreement:

To consider dear to me, as my parents, him who taught me this art; to live in common with him and, if necessary, to share my goods with him; To look upon his children as my own brothers, to teach them this art.

I will prescribe regimens for the good of my patients according to my ability and my judgment and never do harm to anyone.

I will not give a lethal drug to anyone if I am asked, nor will I advise such a plan; and similarly I will not give a woman a pessary to cause an abortion.

But I will preserve the purity of my life and my arts.

I will not cut for stone, even for patients in whom the disease is manifest; I will leave this operation to be performed by practitioners, specialists in this art.

In every house where I come I will enter only for the good of my patients, keeping myself far from all intentional ill-doing and all seduction and especially from the pleasures of love with women or with men, be they free or slaves.

All that may come to my knowledge in the exercise of my profession or in daily commerce with men, which ought not to be spread abroad, I will keep secret and will never reveal.

If I keep this oath faithfully, may I enjoy my life and practice my art, respected by all men and in all times; but if I swerve from it or violate it, may the reverse be my lot.

The Vietnam War or the Second Indochina War was a Cold War military conflict that occurred in Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia from September 26, 1959 to 30 April 1975. The war was fought between the communist North Vietnam, supported by its communist allies, and the government of South Vietnam, supported by the United States and other nations.

The Viet Cong, a lightly armed South Vietnamese communist-controlled common front, largely fought a guerrilla war against anti-communist forces in the region. The North Vietnamese Army engaged in a more conventional war, at times committing large units into battle. U.S. and South Vietnamese forces relied on air superiority and overwhelming firepower to conduct search and destroy operations, involving ground forces, artillery and airstrikes.

The United States entered the war to prevent a communist takeover of South Vietnam as part of their wider strategy of containment. Military advisors arrived beginning in 1950. U.S. involvement escalated in the early 1960s and combat units were deployed beginning in 1965. Involvement peaked in 1968 at the time of the Tet Offensive.

After this, U.S. ground forces were withdrawn as part of a policy called Vietnamization. Despite the Paris Peace Accords, signed by all parties in January 1973, fighting continued.

The Case-Church Amendment, passed by the U.S. Congress in response to the anti-war movement, prohibited direct U.S. military involvement after August 15, 1973. U.S. military and economic aid continued until 1975. The capture of Saigon by North Vietnamese army, in April 1975, marked the end of Vietnam War. North and South Vietnam were reunified the following year.

The war exacted a huge human cost in terms of fatalities, including 3 to 4 million Vietnamese from both sides, 1.5 to 2 million Laotians and Cambodians, and 58,159 U.S. soldiers.

NYC1OOO/Cocktails or a Pedicure?

NYC1OOO/Cocktails or a Pedicure?

i took a walk to shoot a parade in Manhattan where i live.

Where the tourists come and eat and imbibe and soak in the sunrays on a day like today.
I saw people indulging in multiple cuisines
plates filled with tons of meat eggs all sorts of food and drink.

What i really saw was the contrast between the poor and the rich. The have and the have nots. What i saw were people who were not invited to dinner.

What i saw were people sipping on quart filled cocktails while the poor begged for anything at all so that they could stop the gurgling in their bellies one more day.

I saw alot but didnt take too many photos.
I felt saddened. Truly disgusted. I struggled home. I have to stand for something, though there is not much to stand for in this selfish, nonsensical, meaningless, chaotic world. I try atleast. I do try!

Getting prepared for their THANKSGIVING dinner in Port Au Prince Haiti...

theyll start with pumpkin soup
sip on a bit of eggnog
then surely finish with stuffed Ham
and cranberry sauce.
Then toys will be showered to all the children.

Post traumatic flash..........................................!! !! !! !! !! !! !!

its not uncommon in the USA for birthday kids to get 20 toys/gifts one after the other from each invited guest. It made me sick to see one child handed one after the other as he unwrapped the gift and tossed it to the side to see the next one and the next one and the next one and the next one and the next one and the next one and the next one and the next one, with his mother smiling glowingly as i puked and left for the third world.
